Packing luggage is an art. Experienced passengers will follow airline and airport security requirements to ensure that important items are easily accessible.

Do not carry liquids or gels larger than 3.4 ounces (100 ml)

Let's start with how to pack your carry-on luggage: if you bring a full-size bottle of shampoo or sunscreen, it must be in your checked luggage, not your carry-on luggage. Airports around the world restrict liquid/gel items in hand luggage to 3.4 oz (100 ml) bottles; they must all be packed in a quart (or liter) zippered plastic bag.

Please note that there are some exceptions to this rule, including essential medicines and food for infants or children.

Do not pack other prohibited items

The government of each country has slightly different regulations on what can and cannot be taken on an airplane, but as a general rule, you should never put any of the following items in your carry-on luggage: guns, explosives, Baseball bats or other sports equipment can be used as weapons, self-defense sprays (such as mace), and sharp objects such as knives and safety razors.

If you fly to or leave another country, search for its safety rules on Google or call your airline.

  Don't pack too much

Many other airlines, including the largest airline in the United States, currently have no weight restrictions on carry-on baggage, but they do have size restrictions-unfortunately, they are shrinking. Please refer to the carry-on baggage and personal item size limits of major airlines for the rules of the airline you fly.
